The DETECTIVE project, funded by the EU for a duration of four years, commenced on January 1, 2024. Its objective is to create, validate, and apply pioneering detection techniques for identifying new genomic techniques (NGTs) and their resulting products in plants and animals.

The project aims to create and validate precise methods for detecting NGTs in food, along with the necessary tools and protocols. These efforts are geared towards fostering a transparent, streamlined, and inventive food system. Through DETECTIVE’s work, the goal is to facilitate the tracking and authenticity of NGT crop and animal products, enhancing market oversight, bolstering legal compliance, and empowering consumer decision-making within the EU.
